Syracuse University Press’s series Middle East Literature in Translation is designed to make writing from the languages and cultures connected to the Middle East and North Africa (Arabic, Turkish, and Persian, but also Kurdish, Urdu, Turkmen, Uzbek, etc.) available to English-reading audiences. The books in the series include short stories, novels, poetry, creative nonfiction, memoirs, and works on literary criticism. The series expands the geopolitical boundaries of the Middle East and North Africa to provide readers with new perspectives on classic texts, old stories, and contemporary artistic approaches.
To ensure we are able to provide our full attention to your translation project, the series will accept proposals with sample chapters and a translator CV/résumé during the periods of January–March and July–October, or as time permits. You are free to submit a proposal at any time, but please await a response from the acquisitions team.
