National Veterans Resource Center and Syracuse University 2025 Veterans Writing Award and Weekend Workshop

Syracuse University Press and Syracuse University Libraries, in partnership with the Syracuse University D’Aniello Institute for Veteran & Military Families (IVMF) and the National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC), are hosting a Veterans Writing Weekend devoted to discussions of art, identity and conflict November 7-9, 2025 at the National   Veterans Resource Center. The event is featured in the Humanities Center’s Syracuse Symposium on “Creativity.”

Weekend Schedule:

Friday, Nov. 7, 5:00-6:30 p.m. – Award presentation, Panel Discussion, and Reception

Saturday, Nov. 8, 7:00-8:00 p.m. – Public readings by award-winning veteran authors Dewaine Ferria, Brian O’Hare, and Jenny Pacanowski

Sunday, Nov. 9, 2:30-3:30 p.m. – Public readings by Veterans workshop participant

Weekend Veterans Writing Workshop As an extension of the Veteran’s Writing Award, Veteran’s Writing Award, Syracuse University will also host a Veteran’s Writing Weekend Workshop on November 8 and 9, 2025, in the National Veterans Resource Center Daniel & Gayle D’Aniello Building at 101 Waverly Avenue in Syracuse, NY. Participants will have the opportunity to receive instruction and develop their writing under the direction of award-winning veteran writers Dewaine Farria, Brian O’Hare and Jenny Pacanowski.
