On July 28, the press will be holding a virtual book talk as part of the Read New York Challenge, highlighting local authors exploring the concept of writing New York waterways.
The Read New York Book Talk with authors Nina Shengold and Peter Lourie will begin at noon on Tuesday, July 28. Attendance is free and registration is required and can be made here. The conversation, focused on the writers work as well as writing the ourdoors, will be moderated by Syracuse University Press Acquisitions Editor Laura Fish. The event is expected to last about an hour and include an audience Q&A.
Nina Shengold is an award-winning author, playwright, and screenwriter. Her book Reservoir Year: A Walker’s Book of Days chronicles her experience walking the Catskill’s glorious Ashokan Reservoir.
Peter Lourie has written books about his journeys on many rivers, from the Amazon and the Everglades to the Yukon and the Missouri. River of Mountains: A Canoe Journey Down the Hudson recounts his solo trip from the source of the Hudson to the mouth at New York Harbor.
The event is the first book talk for the Read New York Challenge, where participants can get a free monthly e-book or discount on a printed copy of a select New York state title. Signing up for the challenge is free and can be done here.
