Description
John Voll’s new edition of Islam provides a perfect introduction to someone seeking a comprehensive, single-volume history. His opening chapters briefly discuss the historical background with the Prophet Muhammad in the seventh century through the rise of the eighteenth through twentieth centuries, while the final two chapters, totally rewritten for this edition, cover the significant events of the 1980s and 1990s. The bibliographical comments and suggestions for further reading have been updated. There is also a useful glossary of non-English terms.
