About the Author
John L. Esposito is Professor and Director of the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and Editor-in-Chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World. His other publications include The Islamic Threat: Myth or Reality?; Islam and Democracy (with John O. Voll); Islam: The Straight Path; and Women in Muslim Family Law (the latter also produced by Syracuse University Press).
