Description
The ocean is largely unknown. That is, although it embodies the idea of global borderless interconnectivity, it is neither an international public common good nor a resource the consumption of which foresees aspects of international public sustainability. Within the hegemonic framework of late capitalist urbanization, the ocean is becoming a vast expanse of spatial and material resources colonized without the presence of overarching control.
Drawing on the fields of geography and landscape architecture and elaborating on the notion of what is today dubbed planetary urbanization, Blue Uneven examines global socio-natural actors and dynamics to shed light on their cumulative impact on oceanic transformations and the sustainability of our world.
