This series seeks to combine the most rigorous canons of objective scholarship with imaginative research into Judaism and the Jewish past, both distant and recent. Books in the series range from biographies of important leaders (The Downfall of Abba Hillel Silver and the Foundation of Israel) to delineations of the history of Jewish communities, particularly in eastern and central Europe (“We Are Jews Again”: Jewish Activism in the Soviet Union) to political and ethical studies (American Jewish Political Culture and the Liberal Persuasion; Einstein”s Pacifism and World War I). The series also invites works that explore and analyze the Holocaust from a historical perspective.
