Meet the author of Watching TV
The Paley Museum, New York NY
Learn the secrets of writing and researching television history. Syracuse University Press has just published an updated edition of one of the best books on media history: Watching TV: American Television Season by Season. Authors Walter J. Podrazik, a TV curator at the Chicago Museum of Broadcast Communications, and Harry Castleman, a lawyer and coauthor of eight books with Wally, will explore how they created Watching TV in the eighties and have now brought this detailed, entertaining history of TV up to 2024, surveying how the medium has evolved every year. In addition, Wally and Harry along with Paley TV Curator Ron Simon have chosen rare clips from the Paley Archive to screen, including one of the of the strangest series ever, The Continental, and the Beatles’s first appearance in primetime before the Sullivan show.
